Market Research Project. (Video Reviews, Project ideas (Scrapped) and some Research)

 Promotional Video Project ideas and examples:

Before I proceed into planning I had a look at different Magazine covers and video advertising, here is a short summery on two videos that i am about to review;

Kalima Resort and Spa Promotional Ad

(Screenshots of the Ad)

What it is about; The advert is about a luxury hotel resort and a guest enjoying her visit there.

The Selling point; The whole point of this promotional ad is to encourage people to visit the resort due to the luxuries it has to offer and many things including the scenery.

The benefits and disadvantages of the advert; It is rather beneficial to advertise it in the summer season since it is a tradition for lots of people to go on holiday on that time, it will also be beneficial for people who would want a relaxing holiday in a tropical climate, the camera angles allows viewers to explore the island and to feel convinced of what the holiday should look like, that includes the activities that are shown such as swimming, Spa treatment, bathing and such etc.

As for the Disadvantages, the ad will not work as effectively if it was advertised on another season since it is usually a tradition for people to go on a holiday on Summer, the ad lasts for three minutes and in my opinion the longer the advert, people are more likely to pay less attention and will overtime get bored.

Pizza Promo Video

(More Screenshots)

What the Ad is about: it is about A man Making a Seasoned Pepperoni Pizza.

The Selling point; to raise someone's appetite and make them fancy the food.

The Benefits and the Disadvantages of the advert; The benefits of this is that the food that is featured is an Italian style and since Italian food is popular, it is most likely that the audience will crave for the food and would want to go and buy the product, the camera angles and the slow motion sells the pizza off so well as the pizza is shown in so many different views, like the dough, the tomato sauce, the cheese etc. (This ad had convinced me to buy a pizza).

The Disadvantages is that there is no price, no logo, no make and company etc. But since this is just a project and not an actual advertisement, i'll let that one go.

the last one is that having a pizza might not be suitable for everyone as the cheese wont be suitable for Vegans, or the pizza itself isn't always the most healthiest options and could potentially affect people with health issues.

What should i consider if i were to make an advertisement in general?

If it was for a video, I will reduce the time to at least 30 seconds rather then 3 minutes since it is short but simple, it will help to prevent viewers from getting bored overtime.

I should consider on what kind of audience i should aim at, for instance; i could just make a family friendly theme rather then just for adults since it is suitable for all ages which could be more profitable that way.

Advertise something that is popular/trending since it is more likely to attract higher numbers of audiences.

   Keep it appropriate and not offensive, don't make a bad reputation for you and your company.

Think of the budget, how much will it cost to advertise it.

Focus on the selling point.

Choose the right audience and keep it relevant.

Grab the viewers attention, make it colourful and not boring, for instance if I were to make a magazine cover, I'd add a large variety of visuals such as photoshopped images and large text slogans.

My Personal Advert Idea:

My Advert will be made in a Magazine poster, the poster will be about a movie that i personally enjoyed Watching like Star wars etc. I plan to make a parody and make this as a fan-made promotion.

The Selling point: To get people to become interested in the Franchise and encourage them to watch it.

What i want for my outcome: to get people hyped and encourage them to talk about the topic more often and a new movie that is coming out.

Target Audience: 12 years and up (Mainly Teens and all adults).

Examples of different types of Magazine covers are out there;

Example 01:

Example 02:

Example 03:

My thoughts: A lot of these Covers will show a topic of someone's interest, it is mostly down to people's tastes and what they are interested in, many of these magazines are aimed at specific audiences. for instance, The first magazine example is aimed for people who are interested in many things like the Actor Johnny Depp, The movie Pirates of the Caribbean, or other movies and characters like the Transformer series or Captain America etc. This Magazine is aimed for people who enjoy Pop culture and Movies etc.

The Second cover Example is mostly aimed at one topic and that is Star wars the Mandalorian, unlike the first cover the second only covers mainly one subject and it does not go off topic, it is aimed at a specific audience instead of multiple people.

The Third Topic is mostly about Bill Clinton and it is a general topic about changing the world and such, it is however aimed at a general audience so the advertising isn't as limited.

Marketing research additional notes:

How to categorise an audience:

Identifying Demographics such as Hobbies, Interests, age and Gender.

Understanding their Social Grade.

Knowing their Personalities.

Understanding and getting to their Background etc.

How to receive feedback from audiences:

Create a Survey and ask them some general/personal questions like Quantitive and Qualitative types, just remember that you know your boundaries and not ask them anything personal like Bank accounts and such etc.

Qualitative Research: This method specifically targets an Individual member of an audience, there is no use of numerical data since this method is only gathering data from one person, this method is useful as you can get to know that specific person and understand their profile better.

  Quantitive research: rather then targeting an individual you could ask a rather general question that is aimed at a group of people, so for instance a general question will measure answers based on a number of people who will answer it based on a selection of different options and then once it is all done the highest number of people who voted on a certain answer will affect the results, the answer with the highest number of votes will often be selected whilst the lowest scoring answer will be less likely to used.

What my project is about:

Like i said in "My Personal Advert Idea" Mine is a movie poster parody of a famous Series Star Wars, here is what type of audience i will aim for;

(Potentially) My Audience Profile:

Gender: Any

Age: 12A+

Personality: Any

Hobbies and Interests: Sci-Fi/Action Films, Fans of Lucasfilm, Disney or the Star wars Franchise, fans of other films that are Similar/Different.

What my product could look like:

Using Adobe Photoshop software, this is what the poster will be based of:

The poster i'll make won't have a major selling point since it is a parody and it is based of the three trilogies, however the selling point is to get people interested and to encourage them to get into the franchise, for instance when a new movie is released it often gets advertised in a trailer, however it also gets advertised on a poster as well, i decided to create a movie poster since photoshopping is a bit more easier for me to do and it does not require real footage, lots of equipment, cameras and such etc. As for Photoshopping; It only Requires one device like a Computer or Mac and some editing software and it is more simple and quicker to recreate something that doesn't really exist yet, like a new movie that hasn't been released or even a Reboot of the Sequels.

What are the potential issues:

Copyright claims can happen since i don't own the content, however this one is a non-profit parody and it is not real.

The Audience may/may not be interested in things like the film industry or content itself.
